I invite you to discover the
power of the Unseen.

“The Unseen” is the term I use to describe the Great Mystery; the reality that lies beyond our three dimensional reality. The Unseen refers to what we know in our heart of hearts to be real and true, even though we’ve been told it is merely fiction. The Unseen is primordial wisdom and ephemeral fullness; it holds power, beauty, magick, healing, potential, synchronicities, the indescribable, and the eternal. The Unseen refers to what is living within and alongside us, and what exists beyond us. It is a reminder to us that humans are simply part of existence, not the centre of it.

In my experience of the Unseen, I can hear, smell, sense, and speak with spirits, with the animate and inanimate, with the Elements, with archetypes and alter egos, and with my ancestors who came before me. This coexistence is liberating, fulfilling, inspiring, nuanced, and can also be challenging and terrifying — not because spirits and magick are frightening, but because I was once afraid to face my inner demons and shadows. Through my own healing, I began returning to myself, and the more myself I became, the more tuned in I became. The Unseen is meant to be seen.

My metaphysical practice involves:

  • Spirit travelling and spirit communication
  • Psychic smelling and mediumship
  • Kitchen magick, shapeshifting, and other forms of witchcraft and ritual work
  • Working with healing plants as folk medicine
  • Interpreting symbolic languages shared with me via the Motherpeace Tarot, dream work, and core shamanic journeying as a means of divination

In ancient Chinese mystical traditions, this multi-disciplinary metaphysical practice is called 巫 – Wu or Wuism. I have sometimes wondered if the modern term ‘woo-woo’ originated from my culture’s term, Wu.

As words and their meanings can vary from person to person, I feel it’s important for me to define a few frequently used words in my work. Please note that these are meant to be quick definitions, and by no means are comprehensive or wholly complete:

Animism: The ancient wisdom and practice that natural objects, phenomena (such as weather), and other inanimate things are living, possess personality, are filled with spirits, and have the capacity to offer wisdom and spiritual healing.

Core Shamanism: In combination with Animism, Shamanism is the oldest form of spirituality found by anthropologists. It’s important to note that it exists across many cultures and continents, and was first seen in matrilineal cultures (including my own culture – Han Taiwanese). Shamanic healing consists of a practitioner traveling through varied states of consciousness via ecstatic dance, rattling, shamanic drumming, altered breath, sometimes with the consumption of plants (in my case, I work exclusively with Tea – Camelia sinensis), and other rituals to interact with spirits and bring back messages that yield resolution and transformation.

Divination: The practice of viewing a situation with immense depth to see what is below the surface, and looking into likely past, parallel, and future potentials. The ‘language’ of divination is very often visual: nature omens, Tarot readings, shamanic journeys, or the nuanced symbols found in dreams, but can also include other senses or ways of knowing, such as clairolfactance (psychic smelling), clairaudience (psychic hearing), other psychic senses, or simply having a deep knowing.

Magick: The intention or action undertaken to manifest personal transformation or noticeable change. I intentionally use the ancient spelling of the word (‘magick’) rather than the term ‘magic’, as a way to differentiate my discussion of magick from illusionism and Hollywood magic. The vein of magick I practice is Chaos Magick — a style that cuts through the extraneous to work directly with energy currents for practical results. The magick I often engage in is with food and drink, the Chaos Magick often shows up as Kitchen Magick.

Necromancy: The practice of connecting to the dead. In my case, this is mainly with ancestral spirits, spirits of loved ones who have passed on, and deceased pet spirits. This is an agnostic method, which means the dead can be accessed via prayers, core shamanic journeying, kitchen magick and witchcraft in general, other forms of ritual work, and dream work.

Occultism: The serious study of the action or influence of supernatural energies and powers (magick), oftentimes in ritual.

Plant Spirit Healing + Plant Magick: Respecting and revering the consciousness of plants, I work with specific botanicals to achieve clearing, protection, healing and emotional and spiritual equilibrium. As with most forms of magick, the effectiveness of this ancient practice is rooted in the practitioner’s relationship with the plant’s own energy. Folk medicine still exists today, such as in Chinese Herbalism within the Traditional Chinese Medicine system.

Shapeshifting: Being mercurial is a quality of a witch, shamanic practitioner, and occultist. It’s defined as “changing form or identity at will”, most often energetically, but it can also be tangibly noticed in behaviour and other physical qualities of the shapeshifter. Both shamanism and witchcraft employ this method of magick to facilitate positive change and healing.

Witchcraft: Different from shamanism, where the practitioner travels to the beyond, witchcraft mainly focuses on inviting the spirit beings here to our physical world. Methods often include spells, inner visioning, and rituals that invoke energies and spirits. Lunar and astral alignment, magickal correspondences, spiritual symbolism, the elements, sensing frequencies and resonance, talisman and sigil making, and working with spirit companions are key aspects of witchcraft.

“I just wanted to say thank you for this beautiful space that you've held for all of us. I hadn't yet written my testimonial because I feel the moment I write something, I'm only going want to write more. [The Mystery Mentorship] has been so potent, so magical, and it really, truly asks us to confront ourselves in the most authentic, genuine and loving way. And I find it to be so special, so thank you.”

"Mimi is doing something remarkable with Ceremonie. I have never come across products quite like this, and it has definitely helped me dive further into my spiritual journey and curiosity, while heightening my vibrational sensitivity and awareness. Not to mention the Eye Serum has been a life saver for my bad sleeping habits, and I can't wait to switch out some more of my old products with this collection."

“Mimi often talks about “pinch me” moments, and for me the Mentorship is one of them. For years I’ve followed a plethora of Instagrammers, podcasters, authors etc. in the general spiritual field, and their work, while so captivating, always felt so out of reach. Only two weeks in and I’m floored by how jam packed the Sunday sessions are, and how the lessons linger & permeate my every day life. I’ve learned to trust myself more in the last 10 days, than I have in the past 10 years, so fucking pinch me I can’t believe I get to do this!! The old witch in me is rejoicing the baby witch who is learning to take her first few wobbly steps & it’s truly all thanks to Mimi.”

"I started my week today, Monday, with watching the replay of yesterday's class that I wasn't able to be apart of live. I had to pause at 30 minutes into the class because, just as you said "If you can embody 8 in your life it means that you're connected to the story, that 1 gave birth to 2, that 2 gave birth to 3, and 3 gave birth to 10,000 things," tears rolled down my eyes like water released from the tension of a water dam. Even I was taken aback by this response, but it hit such a deep chord within my heart, it felt like liberation. To preface this moment, I was coincidentally reading the Tao Te Ching on Saturday morning and landed on that very passage you shared in class about 1 giving birth to 2 and so forth on Sunday. When you began the class with that passage, it was all the more affirmation to me that in the practice of inviting yin/yang and the bagua to show up in my life, they were showing me the Way. I'm only 30 minutes into Week 3's class and I had to pause it to write to you to say thank you for putting into words so eloquently, so vividly, so precisely, the memory of our shared ancestors. Thank you. I'm really enjoying this module - there's just been so many moments of alignment with the I Ching, Wu Xing and Bagua explorations. I've been exploring these topics for a few years now from an intellectual perspective. The way you teach, however, gives life to what are often conveyed as concepts. You have a way of returning their power and voice to them: the I Ching, Wu Xing, and Bagua. And in so doing, we are able to reclaim our power and voice for ourselves. For that I am most grateful. "
